Privacy Policy
A simple explanation of what information the app uses and how it is handled.
1. Overview
Study Now: JLPT is an educational app that uses Apple’s Screen Time features to help users stay focused on JLPT study. The app lets users study JLPT content across levels N1 to N5, practice by category, keep JLPT history, and track study progress.
This Privacy Policy explains what information the app uses, where that information is stored, and what choices users have.
2. Information the app uses
The app does not require account creation and does not ask users to log in.
The app may store the following information on the user’s device:
- quiz history
- JLPT level and study settings
- study progress information
- selected apps, categories, and web restrictions configured through Apple’s Screen Time / FamilyControls features
- purchase and subscription status needed to unlock premium features
- JLPT history manually entered by the user
- daily free-usage status, such as study sessions used and rewarded-ad session credits earned
- privacy or consent choices related to advertising, where required
In addition, third-party advertising and consent services used by the app may process technical information such as device or app identifiers, ad request data, approximate location information derived from IP address, consent status, and ad interaction information, subject to those providers’ own policies.
3. How information is stored
Most app data used for studying, settings, progress, restrictions, and JLPT history is stored locally on the user’s device. The developer does not operate a backend service for storing user study data.
Because this app data is stored locally, uninstalling the app, deleting app data, restoring a device, or changing devices may affect what data remains available unless Apple provides separate system-level restoration.
Some information related to advertising and consent may be processed by third-party services used by the app, including Google AdMob and Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP). Those services operate under their own privacy practices and may process limited technical or ad-related information in order to provide rewarded ads, consent messaging, fraud prevention, and related compliance functions.
4. Permissions used by the app
Screen Time / FamilyControls
The app requests access to Apple’s Screen Time / FamilyControls features so the user can choose which apps to restrict while studying. The selected apps are chosen by the user.
Notifications
The app may request notification permission to remind users about study sessions or app-related events. Notification permission is optional and can be managed in the device settings.
5. Third-party services and Apple frameworks
The app uses Apple technologies and selected third-party services, including:
- StoreKit / Apple In-App Purchase for subscriptions and restoring purchases
- Screen Time / FamilyControls to support app restriction features selected by the user
- Google AdMob to provide rewarded ads that users may choose to watch in exchange for additional study sessions
- Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) to present consent and privacy-choice flows when required
- the default email app when the user chooses to send feedback
Payment processing for subscriptions is handled by Apple. The developer does not receive or store full payment card information. Purchase transactions are processed by Apple, and the developer only receives the subscription or entitlement status needed to unlock premium features.
Rewarded advertising and consent messaging are provided through Google services. Google may process technical and advertising-related information as described in Google’s own privacy documentation.
6. Advertising, tracking, and analytics
Study Now: JLPT includes rewarded ads. Free users may choose to watch a rewarded ad in exchange for additional study sessions. Watching a rewarded ad is optional.
The app uses Google AdMob to serve rewarded ads and Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) to manage consent and privacy choices where required by law or platform policy.
The app does not sell personal information.
The developer does not operate a separate third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDK based on the current version of the app. However, advertising and consent providers may process limited technical or ad-related information needed to serve ads, measure ad performance, prevent fraud, and respect consent choices.
Where required, users may be shown a consent or privacy-choice message before ads are requested. Users may also be able to manage privacy choices later inside the app.
7. Feedback and support messages
If a user taps a feedback or support button, the app may open the user’s default email app. Any information the user includes in that email is provided voluntarily by the user.
8. User controls
Users can use the app without creating an account.
Users may be able to delete JLPT history they manually add to the app. Users may also manage permissions such as notifications and Screen Time access through iOS settings or Apple’s permission flows.
Free users can choose whether or not to watch a rewarded ad to earn additional study sessions. Rewarded ads are optional.
Where supported or required, users may also be able to review or update advertising-related privacy choices from within the app.
According to the current app design, users cannot fully reset JLPT progress inside the app.
9. Children’s privacy
The app is intended for a general audience. The developer does not knowingly collect personal information from children through a user account system or backend profile database. If you believe a child has provided personal information by email or through another direct contact channel, please contact kotaba.app@gmail.com.
10. International users
The app may be used globally. Because data is stored locally on the user’s device and not in a separate developer-operated backend for app data, many privacy questions will depend on the user’s own device environment and Apple account settings.
11. Changes to this Privacy Policy
The developer may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the app, legal requirements, or business operations. The updated version will be posted on the app’s website with a new effective date.
